 The
Grand Concourse Authority was awarded the 2005 National Honour Award by
the 15,000 member American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA),
during the ASLA Annual Meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on October
10, 2005. The award, in the ASLA's Professional Awards Communications
category, goes to the Walkway Maintenance Manual published by
the Authority in 2004.
In making the award - one of the only two presented that year -
the ASLA's nine-member international jury noted that the Walkway
Maintenance Manual offers, "Critical information for landscape
architects to be able to ensure the future of their projects...
anticipates long-term maintenance issues, " and is a "wonderful owner's
manual... the design of the book is so clever." The National Honour
Award recognizes "achievements in communicating landscape architecture
works, techniques, technologies, history, or theory, and their lesson
value to the intended audience." |
