Conception Bay South T'Railway
The Grand Concourse Authority has been working on designs to for an 18 km stretch of the former railbed in the Town of Conception Bay South. The new accessible, non-motorized, pedestrian and cyclist system will integrate linkages between community trails, local business, cultural centres and recreational facilities. Construction began in November 2013 and is expected to continue through 2014.
The Rooms - Outdoor Exhibit
We've been working closely with The Rooms Site Development Committee on developing plans for an Outdoor Exhibit. The concept features the restored outline of Fort Townshend, marked with a lit pathway at night, as well as new traffic controls, an amphitheatre and sculpture area.
A generous donation from the Bidgood family, matched by the City of St. John's, will help realize dream of Roger and Jennie Bidgood. The 38-acre Bidgood Park in Goulds will see further development in 2014 with the addition of playground equipment, an artifact shelter, and a bronze sculpture commemorating the agricultural community. About 4.5 kilometres of walkway and boardwalk have been constructed so far, as well as an outdoor classroom.
The Grand Concourse Authority has been working with the Bannerman Park Foundation on implementing the park Master Plan. The 'Garden of Memories' was completed in 2012 and construction on the new Military Road entrance is expected to begin in 2014.
